HACKNEY, FRIDAY 7TH APRIL: With under a month to go before the Virgin Sport Hackney Festival of Fitness, in partnership with Hackney Council, the organisers put on a microcosm of the festival to get the local community moving together, and to announce Virgin Sport’s community legacy projects in Hackney.
This ‘Taster Session’ was to prove that working out can be fun and is always inclusive; the event featured Chasing Lights Collective founder Chevy Rough giving training tips and drills on how to run expertly. Fat Buddha Yoga held bite-sized yoga sessions for all abilities, alongside Drumworks who provided the soundtrack. The ‘Taster Session’ puts the Hackney community at the heart of the event and showcases the potential of social sport ahead of the event itself.
Virgin Sport aims to bring people together through sport, across all types of fitness and experience, with an irresistible line-up to get everyone moving and grooving. The Virgin Sport Hackney Festival of Fitness on April 30th will be a momentum-fuelled day full of challenging fun. The day will feature the Hackney Half-Marathon, a new 5.5k run (with a buy one get one ticket option so you can bring a friend), and free fitness and yoga classes throughout the day on the Hackney Marshes. The festival also celebrates the Hackney host community, with local entertainers, live artwork installations, bands, DJs and some of East London’s best food and drink.
