Ahead of the final match of the Rugby World Cup 2015, the Webb Ellis Cup arrived on the pitch of the Twickenham Stadium protected by a specially designed Louis Vuitton case. It was escorted by two world-class celebrities: rugby legend John Eales and Japanese actress Tao Okamoto.
In the minutes before the kick-off of the 2015 final match between Australia and New Zealand, John Eales carried the celebrated Trophy into position for the Finalist teams’ Team Entrance. He transported it in a tailored Louis Vuitton case, specially created for the event. He was accompanied by Japanese actress, Tao Okamoto, whose country will host the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
John himself lifted the Trophy in 1999 as Captain of the successful Australian team, the last side to win the Rugby World Cup here in the UK. John won 86 caps for his country; he is a member of the World Rugby Hall of Fame and currently serves as Chairman on the World Rugby Awards panel.
Tao Okamoto is a Japanese actress and model. Known by the public in 2013 for her role in The Wolverine, she will play the role of Mercy Graves in 2016 in the movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
We will have exclusive interviews with both John Eales and Tao Okamoto to capture their emotions ahead of carrying the trophy onto the pitch.
